Project Title
Seismic Hazard Analysis for the Proposed 45-Storey Urban DECA Tower Cubao
Client
B. Cabebe Engineering and Consulting Services
Location
EDSA corner Diaz St., Cubao, Quezon City
The proposed Urban DECA Tower Cubao, a 45-storey condominium located in EDSA corner Diaz Street, Cubao, Quezon City,is approximately 2.7 kilometers away from the West Valley Fault. Due to the nature of high-rise buildings, as well as the tower’s location relative to an active seismic source, this development is required by the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) 2015 to have a site-specific seismic hazard study conducted for design purposes (NSCP 2015 Section 208.4.4.3).
B. Cabebe Engineering and Consulting Services (BCECS), the structural designer of the tower, engaged AMH Philippines, Inc. (AMH) to conduct a site-specific Seismic Hazard Analysis (SHA) study for the development. AMH’s scope includes the following:
- Collection and pre-processing of instrumental seismicity data;
- Investigation of regional seismotectonics;
- Recurrence calculation;
- Probabilistic and deterministic hazard calculations;
- Ground motion selection; and
- Spectral matching.
